Wi-tribe Pakistan, rated number one for customer satisfaction, and Al-Khawarizmi Institute of Computer Science, University of Engineering and Technology (KICS-UET) unveiled ‘wi-cam’ at a press conference held at the UET campus.

wi-cam, a CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) Management and Administration tool, developed by students and graduates of KICS-UET using open-source technology, allows broadband companies, such as wi-tribe, to remotely configure and manage CPEs, while receiving instant notifications and access to live data. Not only does this result in an improved customer care experience, it also enables customers to continue enjoying seamless connectivity.

 

Wi-tribe entered into a strategic public-private partnership with KICS-UET to conceive, develop and launch a fully funded research and development program, enabling the innovation of this breakthrough feature-rich management tool. With wi-cam, wi-tribe and UET jointly demonstrate that sourcing local development of critical customer service innovation is not only possible, but also essential to the proliferation of technical capabilities within Pakistan.

Dr. Tanveer-ul-Haq, Vice President Technical at wi-tribe Pakistan, mentioned that,

“At wi-tribe, we thrive on the potential of the Pakistani youth and are eager to foster innovative ideas that can elevate the local IT industry to international standards. With remote CPE management capabilities, providing real-time updates and support allows wi-tribe to stay focused on customer satisfaction.”

 

This is the first of many other locally developed business tools that will aid the industry in setting new global standards in customer care, operational efficacy and return on investment, while ensuring a long-term vision with public-private partnerships between academic institutions and the internet service industry.

By significantly enhancing customer care, wi-cam has already begun to revolutionize customer experience and promises to do so for the industry at large.  Going ahead, wi-tribe is looking forward to continuing its contribution to the industry’s growth through such initiatives, especially those showcasing the technology-capable youth of Pakistan.

Technology Times, National Academy of Young Scientists (NAYS), SciForum, and Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) have bestow cash prizes to 3 young writers who have surpassed in Science & Technology competition titled “SciFic EssayCon-2011”. The competition was being inugrated just to generate awareness between the young generation of the best practices in Science & Technology sector. This ceremony was held  in Islamabad today.

 

Dr. Manzoor Hussain Soomro, Chairman, PSF has bestow cash prizes to the winners. He also praised the thinking and content of essays written by the future writers of the country.

According to his statment,

“Such healthy competitions plays significant role in promotion of scientific study. The country is enriched with talent but only the need is to provide platform, where our generation can showcase their talent.”.

In the competition young researchers and science students in the age group of 18- 35 were invited to write on the topic “Fiction of today is the Fact of tomorrow”. By the end of March, this year, 46 essays containing four international essays were collected.

 

The procedure of the entries of essays and their evaluation was managed by of Prof. Dr. Syed Saqlain Naqvi, Dean Faculty of Biological Sciences, Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi. The evaluation committee constitutes of famous faculty members of renowned universities.

The response and commitment of students on the essay competition was praised by Syed Ali Mustafa Paras, Editor, Technology Times. He also praised the participation of PSF, NAYS and SciForum in making this essay competition, a success story.

Aftab Ahmed, President NAYS, Sidra Saeed, President, SciForum, Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Member Science, Pakistan Science Foundation, M/o Science & Technology, Prof. Dr. Syed Saqlain Naqvi, Dean Faculty of Biological Sciences, Arid Agriculture University, and Dr. Arshad Ali, Director General, School of the School of Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences (SEECS), NUST have also shared their thoughts for the acknowledgement of young writers.
